Montgomery County Sheriff Robert Dierks announced that the victim from the weather-related accident on 04/29/2012 has been identified.

Sheriff Dierks stated that the victim was identified as 43 year old Independence resident Linda Gail Pendergrass. Dierks stated that Pendergrass had been northbound on C.R. 3900 when she hydroplaned in heavy rain and went off the west side of the roadway approximately 1/2 mile south of C.R. 3600 Sunday evening at approximately 10:13 P.M.

Montgomery County Sheriff Robert Dierks announced that one person was killed in a weather-related accident during last night\'s severe storms. Sheriff Dierks stated that his office received a call at approximately 10:19 P.M. from a subject who stated that he had received a phone call a few minutes before from a friend who advised that she had hydroplaned and went off the roadway and into a creek near a bridge. Sheriff Dierks stated that the woman told the friend that she had been on C.R. 3900 on her way between Coffeyville and Independence and that she was in high water and needed help.

Montgomery County Sheriff Robert Dierks stated that three Independence residents are in custody today following the execution of a narcotics search warrant in Independence late yesterday afternoon.

Montgomery County Sheriff Robert Dierks announced that the Sheriff's Office has uncovered a significant burglary ring following an intense investigation that has led to at least six arrests so far.

Montgomery County Deputies, Cherryvale Police Officers, and Cherryvale and Independence EMS, were dispatched at 7:38 p.m. to an injury accident at County Road 5800 and County Road 5100, northwest of Cherryvale. Upon their arrival, officers reported a male juvenile of Cherryvale had been traveling eastbound on County Road 5800 when his ATV collided with a northbound train. The juvenile was airlifted from the scene to Tulsa by Eagle Med Flight, with extent of injuries unknown at this time.

On March 31, 2012, Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies and EMS were dispatched to 701 Coffeeyville Avenue, in Independence, to a report of a possible injury accident involving an ATV. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies reported Tammy Holiday, of Independence, and a male juvenile, also of Independence, were both injured when the ATV they were riding struck a pile of brush, causing the ATV to flip over. Both individuals were transported to Mercy Hosipital. Investigation of this incident is ongoing. The extent of their injuries are unkown at this time.

On 1/16/2012, at approximately 1:13 a.m., Montgomery County Deputies and Caney EMS were dispatched to a medical call at 118 Oak Lane in Caney. Upon arriving at the scene, officers and medical personnel found Mandy Dixon, 30, unresponsive and not breathing. Family members on scene stated Mandy had suffered from cerebral palsy since birth. Although death was from natural causes, an autopsy has been ordered by the Montgomery County Coroner. We extend our condolences to the family of Ms. Dixon for their loss.

On November 3, 2011 at approximately 2200 hours, Officers of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the Coffeyville Police Dept served a narcotic search warrant at the residence located at 1517 S. Maple in the City of Coffeyville, Kansas. A search of the residence at 1517 S. Maple was conducted and Officers discovered packaged marijuana, drug distribution paraphernalia and cash.

On 11/01/2011, Officer's of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Conducted a search warrant at the residence of Pamela Gann and Joshua Chapman. This residence is located at 301 West 2nd in the City of Coffeyville, Kansas. This search warrant was served at the conclusion of a two month narcotic trafficking investigation conducted by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the Coffeyville Police Dept.
